Fort Zumwalt School District - 1 to 1 Student Device Program
Fort Zumwalt provides a Chromebook for students in grades 5-12 for in-school and take-home use, Chromebooks available for use in-school for grades 3 and 4
The Fort Zumwalt School District provides a Chromebook to all Middle School and High School students each school year. New Chromebooks are purchased for all incoming 6th and 9th grade students, and remain assigned to the student for the duration of their time in the school building.
For students in Grade 5, the District will refurbish Chromebooks turned in by outgoing 8th Grade students to be handed out to each 5th Grade student in the fall. Students in Grades 3 and 4 will have access to a Chromebook in their homeroom class.
JB Mette, Executive Director of Technology Services, says the program started in 2018 for all Middle School students and has been a great success: "By utilizing our existing inventory of equipment, and building a methodical approach to replacements each year, we can bring a Digital Learning Environment to our students in a short time frame. The adoption of Technology both in and out of our classrooms has provided an opportunity for all students to succeed."
Most Important Question: When Do I Get My Chromebook?
The Fort Zumwalt Technology Department works throughout the summer each year to prepare all of the devices for student use in the fall. Based on the delivery timeline and the workload of our staff, the district generally hands out Chromebooks to all students in Grades 5 thru 12 during the first 2 weeks of school.
